this is amazing. super insightful and thoughtful. it gives us hope and at the same time, make us desire to do better. i know.. u had a call for advising projects and i completely missed that,, wondering if there is any chance to speak about this again?
well. i completely understand and dont wanna spam u. But if any case you might be keen to at least take a look before a decision is made... ill be eternally grateful!
Thanks for taking the time to write this. It's refreshing to read a well thought out piece of longer format writing in this space. If you keep writing them, I'll keep reading them. Probably a better deal for me, than you, but still…
I've been in NFT for about 4 weeks. Yes, I'm just starting now. However I'm in marketing for last 7 years. And what I see here is exactly what you have stated.
First of all the market is changing really fast. I've seen a video from like 2 months ago on youtube about flipping NFT, I'm checking the market and it seems that this way will not work anymore.
Second, most of the nft makers do not know a damn thing about marketing that's why 90% of the project fails. They create 10 000 different variations but they have 800 followers in total. No story, no originality, no trust, no benefits, no connections, nothing -> (Be better).
This approach probably worked well a couple months ago when the FOMO was through the roof and people would buy anything just to be in the game and the number of new projects was much smaller.
Third, I think that in the current state of market, one should target flippers to make the most money - Show them that there is money to be made with your project.
And if real (unknown) NFT artists would like to make money - Show who you are, your passion and your commitment.
Too many people are still jumping on the board with "their kids drawings" and think they will buy a house by selling it.
And I love your way of thinking and looking forward to reading more of your letters!
Hey Zeneca, you were the reason I got into NFTs after listening to your podcast interview once. I came back to your website because I've been feeling a little down recently. I've been having to do some intense mental gymnastics to justify being in this space. Seen a lot of gross things from market participants.
But this article, and people like you, reminded me that the nft space is full of all kinds of people. Just got to find what and who you vibe with, and hold each other to a higher standard. Thank you for always being unafraid to keep it real in an industry where it pays so handsomely to be fake and self serving.
Zeneca you're the man. I'm also a "student of the game" and i love that you found such a succesful new passion "late in your career". I'm a technology enthusiast and starting thinking about punks in October 2020. But didnt have the conviction to buy back then. Then the fidenzas, rocks, apes came and as i was watching them drop i still thought: shit its too much money to commit...
oh well, it's never to late to find success. I want to stay in the space and quit my soul-corroding corporate job. I'm launching my NFT series to rasie the discussion about rights and responsibilities in the Metaverse. Most people cant control what zuckerberg does but we can control our own behaviors. This is more the angle i'm taking and the NFTs are good & evil lucky cats that hopefully make the owner think about how he treats others and is being treated him/hershelf.
But markeitng is still a mystery to me and i hope my project doesnt'stay on the ground forever. If you have some time i'd love to talk with you and maybe help me think along. By no means am i asking anything of you like an eondorsement or somethign, just an experienced NFT person to spar with... Hope you read this, cheers!
